Prototyping : The method and techniques involved in the creation of a working model of an exact system is termed as prototyping. The prototyping part of the development is an actual part of the development of a system and is mainly required for the study and analysis of the system.
Prototyping evolved as a need to save on a lot from cost to time. The design is redone over and over again till the final one that is settled upon is made. Skilled craftsmen and designers are typically hired who can build beautiful prototypes to work with as it is the prototype that holds the fate of the actual product. Generally, a prototype is built in an organization and is then put to test.

The prime highlight of the test is the analysis of the product itself. It is then decided upon to make a final finished product. It is definitely a very iterative process. It is iterative as the design is redone and improved over the course of time.

The work of developing a model system involves replicating the actual system for end users to understand and receive the same information and interface as the actual system itself. A prototype helps in multiple fabrications of the product. A prototype typically is different from an actual production design in a way that the material used for prototyping need not be the material of the actual design and is only intended to demonstrate the actual product. Initial cost for product design is comparatively higher, while the process of prototyping by engineers is much less sophisticated and time consuming in contrast to making an actual product at the same time. Prototypes generally ignore the minor details and pay attention to the overall functionality of the product. Prototyping requires skilled labor in order to replicate or simulate the actual design at hand.

A prototype is used to check risk factors associated with a product but although a prototype does not cover all aspects of it. Building a prototype has a lot of necessary advantages and has been mentioned below: Lower costs, Better product understanding, Highlight the positives and negatives of a system.

The more recent advances in 3D printing and computer generated design simulation, prototyping is trending to be obsolete. Also a huge advantage of computer prototyping is that large prototypes can be designed and tested with ease as in the case of a Boeing airplane. The best way to build is a product is to first build a working model of it rapidly and then to do rapid advancements on it and prototypes solve the problem very easily and gives a more clearer picture of the final statement as well. The process of making computing prototypes automates the task and is much simpler and produces a much similar effect as a physical prototype.
